Dia uno en Chile...Un dia maravilloso

Day one in Chile was amazing. I could not believe what was about to happen as I had gotten to my hostel. I began to venture out from there after some rest. I decided to find Mathias Klotz's house/studio. Upon finding it, I began to walk away and a security guard none as a "guarda carros" approached me and asked if everything was ok. I told him that I was simply trying to find Mathias' residence so that I would know where to go on my first day of work. He said that I should ring the bell because he was home. I told him that I thought it was a bit late and that I would come back in the morning since it was already after 7:00. He told me that it was better if I knocked at that particular moment b/c there was no telling when he would be back. At that point I buzzed his studio button and he answered. I said, "Hola, perdon por la molesta pero es Julio de los Estados Unidos." He buzzed me into his courtyard and soon after greeted me. He said that he was glad I came by because he was about to leave for Argentina for a few days. He gave me a tour of his studio and home which were amazing. He then invited me to go to an art opening with him. The following previously sent e-mail sums up the rest. "So i just got back from hanging out with mathias klotz all evening!!!! i walked to his studio and happened to catch him there. he was so nice! he gave me a tour of his house and studio. we went for a half hour walk and chatted/joked around. he then invited me to an art opening he was going to. wow, fancy. on the way there he gave me a personal tour of some sweet buildings in the area. we checked out this part i think called parque independencia that was amazing. we went to the art opening i think his name was hugo liedro...not sure about his last name but he is a cool sculptor from columbia. i actually met the artist and mathias introduced me to some of his other friends. we drank some whiskey, got a little toasty, and then he dropped me off at this cool late night food spot that he said was one of his favorites. he told me to meet him at 1 pm tomorrow to see a couple of houses that he was working on...some official ribbon cutting i think! such a nice guy and to think it was just he and i in his range rover cruzing the mean streets of santiago!!! i am still pinching myself...is this really happening????????????"
